OSHA’s mission is to assure the safety and health of America’s workers by setting and enforcing standards, providing training, outreach and education, establishing partnerships, and encouraging continual improvement in workplace safety and health. OSHA compliance can be demonstrated by following the ANSI Z136.1 Safe Use of Lasers standard.
The Laser Institute of America (LIA) is the information and applications society dedicated to fostering lasers, laser applications, and laser safety worldwide. Serving the industrial, medical, research and government communities, LIA offers technical information and networking opportunities to laser users from around the globe. LIA publishes the ANSI Z136 Series.
The American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery, Inc. (ASLMS) was founded in 1980 and is the world’s largest professional organization dedicated to promoting excellence in patient care by advancing laser applications and related technologies.
The Academy of Laser Dentistry is a not-for-profit international professional membership association of dental practitioners and supporting organizations dedicated to improving the health and well-being of patients through the proper use of laser technology.
The Department of Energy (DOE) LSO Working Group hosts an open workshop on laser safety. Presentations from previous workshops are free to download from its website. The DOE LSO Workshop is for individuals with laser safety responsibility and interest in a research, industrial or academic setting, seeking to update and expand their laser safety knowledge. It features presentations on current laser applications and associated laser safety issues and solutions. The workshop also serves as the official annual meeting of the U.S. Department of Energy Laser Safety Task Group (DOE – EFCOG). Anyone interested in laser safety will benefit from this unique workshop.
